Designed by Kevin Nash, known for the R3 alarms, the market-leading bite indication system now offers the R4 alarms a level of control and functionality that allows the angler to directly connect with their end tackle in a way that was not previously possible. Sensitivity

In practice, the R4 will react to all types of carp takes in any environment. The details of the settings are not as important as the end result. Knowing that even when the rod tips are bent by weed collected on the line or by waves on multi-hectare reservoirs, the R4 alarms will provide you with every important signal without misleading you. Never before has a bite alarm been able to filter out non-bite related events to this extent.

Roller Wheel Sensing

The factory setting on the R4 is standard line movement detection on the alarm roller. Although replaced by Speed Sensing, it still has specific applications, such as during winter fishing on Zig Rigs where slow line tensioning during a take is expected.

Speed Sensing

Two Speed Sensing levels react to line movement at speeds of 1 cm and 2 cm per second respectively to eliminate false takes. Both settings also feature the innovative Drift Sensing Safeguard.

Wave Sensing

Two further sensitivity settings use Wave Sensing technology, which eliminates false takes caused by repetitive waves or when fishing from a boat. Takes are indicated by movement faster than 1 cm or 2 cm per second and after 15 or 30 cm of line movement forwards or backwards on the alarm roller. Both Wave Sensing settings also include the Drift Sensing Safeguard.

Drift Sensing Safeguard

Another industry first, the R4’s Drift Sensing Safeguard protects against the rare possibility of line spooling off due to weed build-up – when the pressure and movement on the line is insufficient to trigger the Speed Sensing system.

Drop Back Sensing

All R4 sensitivity settings also indicate drop back takes with a low tone to differentiate the type of take.

Guiding Light

The ingenious “return home” mode is a key feature of the R4 alarms. Designed specifically for anglers fishing from a boat, it uses the rear LED of the alarm, which when illuminated, provides a reference point for navigation when returning to your swim.

The R4 receiver allows you to select and illuminate the LED of one alarm as a reference point for returning to your swim, or all alarms simultaneously to precisely indicate and guide you between lines – a standard hazard for anglers returning from a fight or baiting trip.

In most cases, this function proves very practical, but in extreme weather conditions, in fog, with strong winds and driving rain, when long fights can easily disorient you – it is a safety feature that sets the R4 alarms apart.

Using the same strong signal transmission as between the R4 alarms and the receiver, the rear LED function can be activated from up to 750 meters away to illuminate the alarms, guiding you safely back to your swim, no matter how far away you are.

Next Level Stealth

Another first for alarms. The R4 has three silencing options. Choose illuminated LEDs and a silenced alarm, so that the sound of the take is limited only to the receiver and does not disturb or alert other carp anglers to any action. The LEDs can be switched off, but the alarm sound remains on when you don’t want illuminated LEDs to reveal your presence or restrict your night vision. Covert Mode is total stealth, deactivating both LEDs and alarm sounds. Only you and your receiver will know something is happening. This is the ideal solution when fishing waters where this is the only way to fish.

Night Glo

To complement the introduction of the revolutionary R4 alarms, the new Night Glo range of hangers connects directly to the R4 and R3+ body via an LED output, allowing the Night Glo Boobin hangers or Swing Arm swinger to pulsate with light every time a take occurs. The colours of the mechanical indicators match the LED colours of the R4 and R3+ alarms, with the additional option of a black body illuminated with white light.

Anti-Theft Alarm

The R4 receiver features an anti-theft alarm that ensures if any paired R4 alarm is switched off in an attempt to steal it, the R4 receiver will immediately emit a loud, two-tone audible alarm. The anti-theft alarm function can be activated and deactivated in seconds.
